Mobile Physiotherapy Services
I am a passionate and goal-oriented Senior Physiotherapist. I graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy from the University of the Western Cape. I have been working in hospitals and in private practice, with my main focus being ICU and rehabilitation after surgery. I have a growing interest in pulmonary rehabilitation, rehabilitating Amputees and women's health.
I am now the proud owner of Shannon Baxter Physiotherapy (PTY) Ltd. A mobile Physiotherapy practice created to deliver rehabilitation services in the comfort of your home.
My personal approach is to provide my patients with knowledge, education and rehabilitation services that are tailored to their specific needs. My rehabilitation services are aimed towards independence; assisting my patients with achieving their highest functional level; as well as the management of their health conditions.
I am a firm believer in patient-centered rehabilitation and look forward to working along side you in achieving your goals.
For the treatment of acute lung conditions such as chest infections, pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma and COPD exacerbation.
The aim of treatment:
Pulmonary rehabilitation is for the patient with a chronic lung condition; who has recently experienced an exacerbation; who has had a prolonged ICU stay (with or without ventilation); or who is recovering after surgery.
The aim of treatment:
Assessment and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal (muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves) conditions, usually due to injury which causes pain and dysfunction.
Rehabilitation after joint replacement and joint reconstruction surgery are essential to assist in the retraining of movement, improvement of musculoskeletal structures, regaining independent function and the prevention of dysfunction.
Rehabilitation after amputation plays an important role in getting a patient mobile and assisting their ability to perform daily activities. The ultimate goal would be rehabilitation with a prosthesis, where applicable. Prosthetic rehabilitation requires a multidisciplinary team approach which requires a physiotherapist to lead the rehabilitation process.
Recovery after surgery can be a daunting process and often requires assistance. Physiotherapy plays an important role in regaining strength, improving endurance, educating family/caregivers as well as improving quality of life.
Do you submit to Medical Aids?
Yes. Medical aid rates are used. All medical aids as well as private patients are accepted.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. Physiotherapists are first line practitioners. We have the ability to assess and treat patients accordingly without a doctor's referral. If you have had surgery and your surgeon gives you specific rehabilitation instructions then I would require that information.
How long is the session?
Your first session would be 45 minutes to an hour. Your follow-up sessions would be 30 to 45 minutes.
Can I book sessions in advance?
Yes. Your first session would give me an indication of more or less how many sessions you would need. This will be discussed with you.
Please feel free to contact me directly for bookings and inquiries.
